π― About This App
ModusPractica Pro is a practice planning tool designed
for musicians who want to get more out of every practice
session. Instead of simply repeating passages until they
feel right, the app uses research-informed scheduling to
suggest when and how often each section of your
repertoire may need attention.
The philosophy is simple: research suggests motor
skills consolidate more efficiently when practice is spaced over time,
not massed into long repetitive blocks. ModusPractica Pro
applies those principles in a practical daily workflow.

π§ How It Works

Spaced Repetition
Your brain remembers better when you revisit
material at increasing intervals. After each practice
session, the app estimates the best moment for your
next repetition β not too soon, not too late.

Stability & Difficulty
Every section has a stability score (an estimate of how
long your memory will last) and a difficulty score (how hard
it is for you personally). Play well and your stability
grows. Struggle and the interval shortens so you get
more practice before it fades.

BPM Progression
Tempo is managed automatically. When you
consistently nail a section, the app nudges your
practice tempo upward β proportionally to how far you
still are from your target speed. No manual metronome
juggling required.

FrustrationGuard
When repeated failures suggest frustrated practice
is no longer productive, the system stops the
session and schedules a fresh attempt the next
day, after a night of sleep-based motor
consolidation.

Memory Zones
Each section is labelled with a learning stage:
Exploration (early acquisition), Consolidation
(spaced repetition), or Mastery (marked for
long-term retention), plus Maintenance / Tracking
where relevant. Zones are a heuristic coaching
label for the appβs plan β not a scientific
measurement of how automated a passage is.

Entry Cost
Entry cost counts how many errors you make
before your first correct repetition. When
that number drops from session to session,
it is a useful indicator that the passage
is becoming easier to retrieve at the start
of practice. Time plays no role here β there
is no clock pressure.

and lifelong pianist based in Flanders, Belgium.
The app grew out of a personal need: a practice
tool that reflects principles from motor learning
research, rather than simply logging

ModusPractica Pro is a free hobby project. All your repertoire,
practice history, and attached reference files are
stored exclusively on your local device
using the browser's IndexedDB. No personal practice data is
ever transmitted to a server.
To help evaluate if and how the application is used, this site
includes Google Analytics. In strict compliance with Google Consent
Mode v2, this tracking operates completely anonymously and remains
entirely disabled unless you explicitly grant
permission through the cookie consent banner. The collected usage
statistics are never shared or utilized for commercial or
advertising purposes.

ModusPractica Pro draws on peer-reviewed research
in cognitive psychology and motor learning science.
Scheduling direction follows that literature; specific
thresholds are empirical design choices (see
The Science).
Individual learning outcomes vary and no
specific results are guaranteed.

or clinical advice of any kind. It is a productivity
tool for musical practice only.
All practice data is stored exclusively on your local
device using the browser's IndexedDB. No data is
